Written Instructions

NOTE: USE FLUX IF YOU HAVE IT. Flux will aid you immensely in soldering any stubborn surface mount components, especially the Micro USB.

NOTE: For the LED’s and diodes, always orient them with the Anode to the left, and the cathode to the right. POSITIVE TO THE LEFT, NEGATIVE TO THE RIGHT + → –

Start with the bottom side:

  1. Solder either 5.1k (blue / black Boards) or 1.8k resistors (green boards) to R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, and R9.
  2. Solder either 3.6k (blue / black boards) or 1.3k resistors (green boards) to R10.
  3. Solder the Diodes to D1,D2,D3,D4, and D5. MAKE SURE THE ANODE (positive terminal) IS ORIENTED TO THE LEFT OF THE BOARD AND THE CATHODE (negative terminal) TO THE RIGHT. The component should look upside down with the 3 grey stripes on the right-hand side.

Top of board:

  1. Using Lead free solder, apply a small amount of solder to the right side of each solder pad.
  2. Solder on all LED’s. MAKE SURE THE ANODE (positive terminal) IS ORIENTED TO THE LEFT OF THE BOARD AND THE CATHODE (negative terminal) TO THE RIGHT.
  3. Solder the 7 SPDT slide switches to the board. DON’T SOLDER THE ANGLED SWITCH TO TOP OF BOARD.

Bottom of board:

  1. Solder the Mini USB port to the bottom left side of board on the USB pad. MAKE SURE WHEN SOLDERING THE CONNECTOR PINS ON THE USB DO NOT CREATE A SHORT FROM VCC TO GND. (vcc is pin 1 gnd is pin 5 counting left to right)
  2. Solder the Angled SPDT slide switch so that the switch is on the bottom of the board, sticking out slightly over the edge of the PCB (see video above for clarification).
  3. Solder the two Coin cell battery cases to bottom of board. Make sure the Positive Pin (pin in the small rectangle) is in the hole labeled VCC.

Legs:

  1. Looking the PCB straight on, Attach the USB Side Leg to the right side. Tighten each screw in small increments until securely fastened.
  2. Looking the PCB straight on, Attach the Slide Switch Side Leg to the Left side. Tighten each screw in small increments until securely fastened.

Pop in the batteries, and you’re done!
